Housing

Single detached homes are the most common housing type, representing around two thirds of dwellings in Vaughan, while the remainder are mainly large apartment buildings and townhouses. This city is notable for those looking for four or more bedroom homes. Homeowners occupy about 90% of the units in Vaughan whereas the remainder are rented. Roughly 45% of homes in this city were constructed after the year 2000, while the majority of the remaining buildings were constructed in the 1980s and the 1990s.

Transportation

Moving around by car is very easy in Vaughan. Most real estate listings are a reasonably short car ride from the closest highway, such as Highway 427, and parking is generally easy. In contrast, the public transit system in this part of the Greater Toronto metropolitan area is not very convenient. Thankfully, house owners can count on the Rutherford Station and Maple Station on the Barrie Line. The city is linked by over 50 bus lines, and bus stops are usually close by. It is inconvenient for pedestrians to move around in Vaughan as few daily needs can be carried out without the use of a car. Although bicycling is more feasible in certain pockets than others, it is also occasionally challenging to commute by bike in Vaughan as there is a considerable amount of hills, and there are a limited number of bike lanes.

Services

Some, but not all, house buyers in Vaughan will reside within walking distance of one of over 200 grocery stores. Residents benefit from over 1100 restaurants and coffee shops as well. When it comes to education, it is a reasonably short walk to reach primary schools from most houses for sale in Vaughan. On the other hand, parents and their children may find it challenging to get to high schools as a pedestrian. Families are served by public and private schools at both the primary and secondary school level.

Character

Vaughan is a good city to buy a home in for those who prefer a slower-paced atmosphere. This city is reasonably quiet, as there are low levels of noise from traffic - however some areas can be quite loud, especially closer to one of the railway lines, Highway 400 or Highway 407. Finally, there are over 200 parks close by for residents to discover, like Sonoma Heights Community Park and Matthew Park, which makes them easy to access.
