Lifestyle

Transportation

Ottawa is very car friendly. Parking is easy. On the other hand, travelling by transit can be challenging in this city by reason of the infrequent service. Thankfully, property owners can rely on the Carleton Station, Bayview Station and Carling Station with access to the Trillium Line. The city is served by over 200 bus lines, and most residences are close to a bus stop. Although bicycling is better in some pockets than others, commuting by bicycle is occasionally challenging in Ottawa because the cycling infrastructure is not especially well-developed, and the area is not particularly flat. A majority of the homes for sale in this city are located in places that are also not very convenient for walking as very few daily errands can be run without having to use a vehicle.

Services

A fraction of house buyers in Ottawa may be able to access one of over 600 supermarkets on foot, while others will have to turn to another means of transportation. There are also over 3300 restaurants and coffee shops in Ottawa. As far as education is concerned, families may consider it difficult to access high schools and primary schools on foot. Likewise, there are only a few daycares and accordingly they can be a rather long walk away. Families benefit from public and private schools at both the elementary and secondary school level.

Character

Ottawa is reasonably quiet overall, as noise from streets and other parts of the city is rarely an issue - although that is not the case near one of the 3 airports (YRP, YOW, YRO), Highway 417, Autoroute de la Gatineau or one of the railway lines. It is sometimes hard to reach parks within the city since they are distributed sporadically. Still, there are over 1000 public green spaces nearby for residents to enjoy.
