Cars are a great means of transportation in this municipality. It is very convenient to find a place to park. However, the public transit service in Clarington is quite poor. Thankfully, the municipality is linked by about 10 bus lines. Clarington is not very well-suited for walking since running common errands is very impractical.
Services
There are only a very small number of high schools and primary schools in this part of the Greater Oshawa metropolitan area and therefore they can be a very long walk away. Likewise, parents may find it very difficult for their schoolchildren to reach daycares on foot. Families have the option of public and private schools at both the primary and secondary school level. With regards to eating, in all but a very small number of cases, a vehicle is needed to buy groceries in one of about 30 stores.
Character
Clarington is reasonably good for those who enjoy quiet areas, as noise from the streets and other parts of the city is rarely an issue - although there are still several noisier sections, especially near Highway 115, Highway 401 or one of the railway lines.
