Aurora is very car friendly. It is especially convenient to park. However, this town is not very transit friendly. Nonetheless, commuters profit from the Aurora Station with access to the Barrie Line. House owners are served by approximately 20 bus lines, and the closest bus stop is typically a short walk away. The bicycle is a sometimes poor means of transportation in Aurora as there are a limited number of bike lanes, and cyclists are faced with a considerable amount of slopes. Aurora is also not very convenient for walking as running common errands is impractical on foot.

Some, but not all, home buyers in Aurora will live within walking distance of one of about 30 supermarkets. A limited variety of restaurants and coffee shops can be found as well. As far as education is concerned, in Aurora, families will commonly be able to reach primary schools on foot. In contrast, high schools are not especially numerous and accordingly not always within walking distance. Besides public schools, there are private primary and secondary schools.

The character of Aurora is exemplified by its slower-paced atmosphere. There are over 50 parks nearby for residents to unwind in, like Foxtail Ridge Rear, making them easy to access. This part of the Greater Toronto metropolitan area is reasonably quiet overall, as the streets are peaceful - however some parts can be quite loud, especially closer to one of the railway lines or Highway 404.
